Some preliminary stuff...

So, I've been thinking, and I'd really like to get involved in an LJ-rooted RP or two.  A lot of communities already have an Azula, so I'm at a bit of a loss in finding one.  Same goes for one-on-one RPing: not sure where to go. I guess I'll start by listing my credentials and some ground-rules. I've been RPing since March of '98.  Yes, you could accurately call me a veteran, but I'm no elitist.  And that's online RPing.  I played pretend-games with my friends on the playground at as early as five-years-old. If you've never RPed before, but are willing to learn, I'll be happy to teach you! I'm not finicky when it comes to style.  Wanna' keep it simple?  We'll do that.  I prefer descriptive-RP -- it keeps my mind and vocabulary active -- but I'm accommodating!  POV's are also a non-issue.  I'll do first-person or third-person.  We can do IC journal entries ( "I'm unsure why I'm writing in the blank pages of this strange book.  It seems rather pointless." ) and/or actions ( "Azula could be found working up a sweat in the palace gardens, honing her skills 'lest her mind and body atrophy in the comforts of luxury." ). I believe in turn-based RP.  In other words, I'll wait for you to respond to my post before creating another one.  I won't run roughshot over you, or try to manipulate your character's actions around mine.  I strive for fairness and greatly appreciate reciprocation. I'm an adult and expect a certain degree of maturity.  At the same time, I want to have fun.  I'm all for crazy antics and total crack.  But let's be reasonable about it, okay?  I'm pretty laid-back, so you probably won't need to concern yourself with this rule.  I put it, just in case!

More to the point...

If the above is acceptable to you, GREAT!  That's awesome!  But, like most RPers, I have expectations and a general idea of what I want to do with my character.  A few of these are non-negotiable, and I feel it's in everyone's best interest to make these known immediately.  It eliminates disappointment well into the RP.  Better to know what you're getting yourself into from the get-go, right?  ;) Pairings:  I honestly hate to put so much importance on this issue, but I feel I must.  There are some pairings I absolutely will flat-out refuse to do.  Under no circumstances will I pair Azula with a male character.  I wouldn't be surprised if this came across as silly, but I have very strong feelings about it.  I apologize for any inconvenience and/or disappointment this might cause.  That said, who am I willing to couple her with?  Females.  You heard right!  I'm an Azula-slash'a'holic.  I'll try her with any girl.  When I say "any girl", I mean it...  ;D  I'm also fine with RPing her as a total asexual, so 'shipping isn't a necessity.  I leave it up to the other person. Azula won't be swearing.  When I see it, it bugs me.  I don't believe she'd swear if the show was on Adult Swim, or any other mature programming block.  I don't think it's in her character.  Don't expect it.  If you choose to have an Avatar character curse, I ask that you keep it to a bare minimum, okay? While my LJ name is "fire_lord_azula", I don't have any problem whatsoever with RPing her as a Princess.  Depends on the scenario in question.  I just ask that you please avoid using "Fire Lady", "Fire Queen", "Fire Empress", or what-have-you -- that's a pet-peeve of mine. Hmmm... what else?  Oh!  Here's the deal with fight-scenes.  Azula's moves are pretty consistent throughout the series, but most other characters' aren't.  To avoid confusion and complication, we might want to establish a system beforehand.  Like... S2!Aang versus Azula, or S3!Katara versus Azula... so we know what tier of mastery the combatants are at.
